He likes to read, play games and music, write, exercise, and keep to himself. This blog is for some of the writing. You can expect…
Now, a bit about us, so you know what you’re getting into.
We were born in Portland, Oregon. We graduated from Oregon State University in June of 2018 with a Bachelors in English and a Bachelors in Education. Then, we moved to Shanghai to teach English literature & composition to young Chinese adults at Shanghai Normal University Tianhua College.
In June of 2019, we returned to America and spent the summer looking for work. The week before school started, we were hired to teach part-time mathematics at a middle school in Milwaukie, Oregon. Not our first choice—in fact, probably our last choice. We soon picked up a part-time assignment teaching social studies at the same school, which inspired us to pursue an endorsement in the subject.
Then, Covid-19. Schools closed, and we were forced to finish the year online. Since our position was temporary, we became unemployed as soon as the job was done. We moved to Kirkland, WA, with our brother and began juggling job searching, getting licensed in Washington, starting graduate school applications, and studying for a social studies endorsement and the GRE. Nothing doing. No school in the area even gave us an interview. So, we made an ad and sold ourselves to the community. Now, we are a private tutor of all ages and and all subjects.
Waiting for things to change. Waiting for the next phase. Bored.
