Now, a bit about me, so you know what you’re getting into.
I was born in Portland, Oregon. I graduated from Oregon State University in June of 2018 with a Bachelors in English and a Bachelors in Education. Then, I moved to Shanghai to teach English literature & composition to young Chinese adults at Shanghai Normal University Tianhua College.

In June of 2019, I returned to America and spent the summer looking for work. The week before school started, I was hired to teach part-time mathematics at a middle school in Milwaukie, Oregon. Not my first choice—in fact, probably my last choice—but you take what you can get. I soon picked up a part-time assignment teaching social studies at the same school, which inspired me to pursue an endorsement in the subject.

Then Covid-19. Schools closed, and we were forced to finish the year online. Since my position was temporary, I became unemployed as of June 30. I moved to Kirkland, WA, with my brother and began juggling job searching, getting licensed in Washington, starting graduate school applications, and studying for a social studies endorsement and the GRE.
Will someone hire me?
I don’t know.
